How the project begins

On Mon, 23 Oct 1995

Hello!

Are there anyone who are interested in exchanging haiku with Japanese high

school students? They are now trying to write English haiku in English class.

The theme is autumn. They make Japanese 5-7-5 haiku first and put it into

English. So the English haiku does not have exact 5-7-5 syllables.

Here are some examples.

          At summer night

          I am enjoying

          the concert of insects

                 by Noriko Hamamura

          I pick off

          Each petal of a cosmos

          Love, Love not

                 by Mizue Matsumoto

I'll show some more haiku which were written by the third-year students in

1993. Please see my homepage at

http://jms09.jeton.or.jp/users/kenjis/haiku.html

We would like to exchange English haiku with any students in elementary

school, junior high school, or senior high school.
